Bashira is only eleven, and has never known a time without soldiers in her homeland. Roughly the same age as Molly’s sister Bella, she takes Bashira to her heart and desperately wishes she can help her.

But as Captain James says, it’s not their job to get involved with the locals - they must remain impartial and unconflicted by emotion.

Despite his warnings, Molly can’t help but befriend Bashira, leading to a relationship which threatens to land both of them in danger.
